OSL Workshop: Translational Poetics with Erín Moure

Description
For this workshop, Montreal-based “transborder poet and translator of poetry and poetics” Erín Moure will lead participants in a discussion on creative and collaborative translation, as well as how her own work develops a ‘biopoetics.’ Participants will also be invited to participate in translation exercises, as well as share their translations for collective feedback. Following the workshop, participants are asked to attend a public reading in the same location (BAK), featuring Moure alongside Dutch poet/translator/editor Frank Keizer.
Assignment
For credit, participants are asked to read the following preparatory texts; attend both the translation workshop and public poetry reading; and submit writing/translations that emerged from or reflect on workshop exercises, not exceeding 1500 words. All submissions should be sent to Dr Mia You (m.m.you@uu.nl) AND to osl@rug.nl by May 8th, end of day.

The public reading is part of the FLORILEGIA SERIES, an ongoing collaboration by Utrecht University’s Network for Environmental Humanities with BAK Basecamp and the Sustainable Humanities group of OSL (Netherlands Research School for Literary Studies). The Florilegia (“bloemlezingen,” “flower-gatherings”) Series features public readings and discussions by international writers working at the intersection of language justice and climate justice through translation and translanguaging. Every reading is free for attendance and includes a by-donation communal dinner from b.ASIC a.CTIVIST k.ITCHEN.
